What went wrong?

I can start being a politician saying: "I spent all my energy in gathering more links, SEO, Internet Marketing"…

Blablabla: it is dead simple: it’s earnings that count, and the earnings this month were lousy, why?

1. Hit and run earnings

Last month (Month 2 earnings) I got 26$ with Bloggerwave. Unfortunately Bloggerwave has completely dried out. Quick and easy money without any future planning.

(if you want to know why Malaysian economy is going through the drain, this is exactly why: hit and run, earn now, forget about tomorrow… 🙁 )

2. Using the wrong tools

I want to make money online but I use a sexy laptop and an even more sexy BlackBerry: both made to use when "on the move" and being contact-able worldwide 24h/7; far from ideal when it comes to basics:

• a computer that works
• a fast Internet connection

(Virus QDial-44 has been eating my CPU usage)

3. Sit back and relax

I was surprised how my first 2 months were nicely above target, so I "took it easy". Wrong strategy… !

If you want to make money on the Internet and you are starting from scratch, you better make sure you keep focused and work hard!

4. No niche market

You by now have seen all the links on my site to 1001 other websites trying to make money online. Meaning that in the search engines I am competing:

• with the big guys (John Chow to name 1) and
• with a lot of others websites having the same "make money online" topic

Double trouble… After 3 months this results in about 2% of my visitors coming from the search engines. 2% is a nice way to say almost zero… 😈 Another reason why I was way to early to sit back and relax.

How to make more money online

I got my wake up call so what’s next:

• getting a sturdy working computer and since I have this laptop, that will be my backup tool
• going all the way:
• find more ways to make money online and
• work harder, work more
• get more visitors

So this month is going to be "make or break" with a target of $160.

It will be very interesting to see what new ways of earning money on the Internet I will find 🙂
